Arctium lappa (Great Burdock)
100 (150)cm, Great Burdock is a biannual herbaceous species native from Central Europe to W Asia. In the first year it makes a basal rosette of broad, only slightly pubescent, heartshaped to oval leaves, in the second year it produces branching stems crowned by dense umbels of large violet flower heads. The fresh or dried roots as well as other parts of the plant are used in medicine. Easily grown in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. VI-VIII.
