Native of mountainous areas in open spots in coniferous woods and sunny meadows in northern California. For any rich, very well drained soil in full sun. Excellent in the rock garden. Seeds from a certified wild collection in Round Valley Lake, Plumas County, California, USA at some 1.375m. VII-VIII.
