20 (80)cm, makes upright stalks with iris like, strongly scented, indigo blue flowers. Native of sandy to rocky soils from Namaqualand to Mossel Bay. For any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. Requires a good winter protection (i.e. dry mulch layer). Best grown in pots under frostfree conditions in a cool greenhouse or wintergarden with reduced watering and a winter minimum of some 5°C.
