Trigonella foenum-graecum (Fenugreek)
30cm, Fenugreek is an annual plant which probably originates in the Far East. The compound leaves are used as an herb in various dishes whereas the rhombic, yellow to amber colored seed (commonly called Methi) are used ground or entire to prepare pickles and curries in the Indian and Arabian cuisine. Seeds are often roasted and have a nutlike, slightly bitter taste. Easily cultivated in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. VI-VIII.
